Metro Manila refuses to grow old. Like my old folks who recently celebrated their wedding anniversary, this frenetic spot in mainland Luzon continues to be dynamic. This reputation is at its strongest at the Mall of Asia Complex where world-class events and intimate family bonding can simultaneously happen with no one judging which is more relevant than the other.
Tryp By Wyndham Mall of Asia-Manila, such social junction is at its most palpable. While it's adjacent to a state-of-the-art events venue called One Esplanade, the modern urban hotel was also recently a home-away-from-home for me and my parents. It's where I recently took them for a staycation and memorable meals by the Manila Bay. With the hospitality brand being present also in other countries like Paris, Madrid, Berlin, São Paulo and New York, the global feel is apparent from the interior design to the overall look.

Premium Bayside Room
Our overnight stay at its 24 sqm.-Premium Bayside Room reflects the sensibility of the address. The serene bay can be viewed straight from the alcove seating of the room and it's even visible from the bed. The space is decked out with a couple of queen beds, an HDTV, a mini-refrigerator, and a coffee-making facility. The wooden wall accents partially offset the whole modern vibe and cleverly tricks the mind into thinking that access to a beach is just nearby.

What one can frolic to in this high-rise, however, is the rooftop swimming pool and that's not far from the idea of getting semi-naked at the beach anyway. Unfortunately, that facility was not yet available during our stay, although we've been informed that it will be accessible to guests by the end of 2017.
Remarkable Kare-kare and More At Milagritos
The same view of the ocean is shared by the hotel lobby and Milagritos, its onsite restaurant. The latter was where we sampled one of the best kare-kare versions that we've tasted that I didn't even have the time to even take a photo of it. I vaguely remember seeing it in its entirety from how it was served because we seriously finished the whole thing over the usual family conversations that we normally have at home. The peanut sauce was quite savory and unusually thick that it stood out on its own apart from the tender meat. It was that down-home great in flavor all in all.

The same restaurant was also the venue of our buffet breakfast which was a decent spread of Filipino and Western cuisines. I especially loved that, during our stay, the roster included local hauls like dilis and tawilis.
