Philippine Airlines (PAL) has embraced a new brand philosophy that's literally always been under everyone's nose. The smiles of Filipinos reflect the warmth of being at home wherever they may be in the world. We may travel as far as London or take regular trips to any province in the Philippines, but our roots keep us grounded enough to make us compassionate to strangers even in the most harsh conditions. This travel blog's tagline actually says it all: "We escape to know what's worth coming home to." And, PAL certainly knows that the heart of the matter is quality service that every Filipino can relate to.
PAL's goal is to become a five-star airline in five years with service innovations, route network expansion and fleet modernization as its flagship initiatives. It isn't flamboyant at all given its 75 years of unparalleled service as the country's flag carrier. It's just about time that the brand moves forward even further.

Airline of Choice
It's not a surprise that the brand is still the airline of choice in all the markets it serves. For my 2014 tour of Roxas City for example, it was may preferred airline to book for costing less than the competition and even exceeding expectations with in-flight service details.
Recently unveiled to bloggers at the Revel At The Palace in Uptown BGC, Taguig, PAL's brand promise of heartfelt service came strong with the presentation of its new music video called "The Heart of The Filipino" featuring recording artists Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo, and Bamboo.
What's In Store For Passengers?
Currently, PAL’s route network covers 43 international and 30 domestic destinations. However, you can soon expect new destinations -- four in the offing -- to be added to PAL's route expansion in Europe. Fancy traveling to Paris, Amsterdam, Hamburg and Rome anytime soon? The future is peachy. When the new, long-range A350-900s arrive, the airline will be capable to mount more non-stop flights to the continent.

For its US network expansion, PAL has commenced thrice weekly non-stop flights between Cebu and Los Angeles. This is touted to boost the brand's presence in the US where current routes include Manila to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Honolulu and Guam.
As part of an ongoing Middle East route expansion, it will also launch five weekly flights from Manila to Doha, Qatar starting March 28. This is in addition to its Middle East routes that include Riyadh, Dubai, Dammam, Jeddah, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi.
To further increase its presence in the Oceania Region, the flag carrier will open twice weekly flights to Saipan in the Northern Marianas Islands on June 15.

In-Flight Service Innovations
PAL is also touted to introduce myPAL e-Suite – an in-flight entertainment system with upgraded content. Also, passengers can anticipate myPAL player – the free in-flight entertainment app that allows passengers to stream movies, music and TV shows on their personal mobile device; the myPAL Wifi, which allows passengers to surf the internet in-flight; and the myPAL Mobile, which allows passengers to use the roaming service in-flight to call and text using their mobile data plan.
With some of the country’s top chefs like Jess Sincioco, Fernando Aracama, Wataru Hikawa, Ben Lam, Bruce Lim, Yoon Yun Sun on board the development of improving in-flight cuisine, PAL Corporate Chef Noel Ramos will definitely be able to whip up new and exciting entrees representing Filipino and continental dishes very soon.
What's the heart of the Filipino? For me it's the warmth of one's home which makes escaping once in a while worth returning to.
