Quezon City is officially a served spot, hospitality-wise. The mere presence of a few hotels in recent years at the entertainment district of the city was not enough to boost the interest of local and foreign tourists to even consider the largest city in the country as a stopover accommodation. The latest property to raise the cool quotient, Microtel By Wyndham, simply had to open this 2014 and the rest was history.

The urban oasis to be had at this new addition to the chain of hotels is its central courtyard. Having stayed there a few weeks ago, I found that almost ethereal gem of a spot is what makes this branch unique, a breathable space of lush greenery where some of the 120 rooms have a good view of. Rather ironic but essential is its design because the hotel's smack dab in the middle of the booming IT and commercial development of UP-Ayala Land Technohub in the city. The dynamic PEZA-listed area is where one can find technology and business incubators, research firms, BPOs, restaurants, and numerous commercial establishments.

Introductory Rates

The decent-sized 25 to 30 square meter rooms are on introductory rates until December 30 this year which means one's almost half the price of the published rate. It's perfect for Metro Manila residents to spend weekends of staycation. The six-story structure is also a good alternative for foreign tourists who plan to make the city a jump-off point to key cities in the provinces, especially with all the heavy traffic ensuing in Makati City and Manila.

The Microtel Standard

As with all Microtel By Wyndham facilities, showers are reliable, room space to move around in is generous, the bed and pillows are plush (chiropractor-approved) and add-on fixtures like nifty space-saving tissue paper holders are fondly installed where they should be.

My favorite spot inside my booked room was the alcove seating which provided me moments of reflection because it's set next to the room window where I had an expansive view of the courtyard below. It also allowed me a spectacular view of the highly-vegetated University of the Philippines Diliman campus and the nearby Iglesia Ni Kristo from my bed.

Roof Deck Infinity Pool

The hotel even boasts of a roof deck infinity pool where most guests who are booked for a wedding have their shoot done aside from the courtyard garden.

Millie's All-Day Dining

Waking up to a pleasant morning was even better. My room-inclusive buffet breakfast at its F&B facility called Millie's All-Day Dining was a delicious experience. The restaurant is just one of the three in the country. You can read about my dining experience of Baby Back Ribs and more here.

A function hall above the restaurant can accommodate 150 people and is perfect for meetings and corporate events, as well as wedding receptions and social gatherings. In addition, there are three meeting rooms good for 30 persons. There is no shortage of parking spaces also.

There's no doubt that Microtel by Wyndham Philip-pines focuses on providing guests a clean, comfortable, and secure accommodation at value rates. It's always strategically positioned at the center of any kind of hub, whether it be business or tourism. It's the sole franchise in Asia belonging to the Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest and most diverse hotel company with over 7,500 hotels worldwide in 69 countries under 15 hotel brands.
