The urban jungle that is Metro Manila is tough. Nothing comes easy. Even those who live the so-called high life have to "work it" to make it every single day. The challenges are the same. The solutions, though, can be streamlined. Thank goodness Terraz makes it smart to make it in Makati City.

Late Lunch Experience
Anything discriminating is highly regarded at Terraz. From the modern comfort dishes to stylish conference rooms designed with sleek lines, the dining experience is topnotch. My visit for late lunch with colleagues in the blogging community had me ease my way in the relaxed atmosphere of the main dining area until I ended up entering one of the intimate private rooms.
The menu for my "bistro and meeting experience" read like a stylish tour of a culinary great's kitchen who, by the way, is known as Executive Chef Arnold Gozon.
Initially served was the salad called Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna. Best tasted with a bit of everything green that the plate had -- from the highly nutritious Romaine lettuce to the fresh-tasting Japanese cucumber sliced in thick portions -- including the cherry tomato, the yellowfin tuna tasted as tropical as Hawaii. Memorable was its strong, meaty taste that complemented well with the freshness of the other ingredients.

One Flavor After Another
The panoply of flavors came rushing in with more inventive selections. Kicking off the roster was the smoky Truffled Herbed Chicken & Creamy Mushroom (chicken breasts that were grilled to perfection and marinated in flavorful herbs) that was prepared with a triumvirate of mushroom varieties and red wine sauce, plus served with an equally filling fettuccine. This was followed by a plate of Simple Saffron Spaghetti which was served with fresh spinach and smoked grilled asparagus. The texture of the homemade pasta was quite evident what with the delicate sauce used.

What came next was one of my favorites that day -- the Spicy Terraz Corned Beef Adobo. It was served on a plate of garlic pumpkin, sweet mashed potato, and kesong puti (white cheese) that was crispy on the taste. A plate of the Italian-favorite Buttered Tilapia Saltimbocca was soon served with the vegetable pilaf, asparagus, sage tomato sauce and grain creamy mustard sauce. Another favorite of mine was the Pork Medallion & Foie Gras which had the grilled meat delicately wrapped in tasty bacon.
Culminating the roster of main dishes were the heavyweights Merlot Braised Veal Cheeks and the Pan-Seared Boneless Chicken Cream Emince.
This was when I took it upon myself to order coffee and let all the flavors slide in with the smooth blend of an espresso (Illy). I paired the down-home experience with a fulfilling sampling of two sweet-enders -- the Crepe Samurai (a flat cake of mango and banana goodness served on a shallow dessert plate) and the newly-dressed pavlova (meringue-based dessert) which is aptly named Pavlovaz (served on a glass).
All in all, my lunch with a group of interesting individuals proved to be a celebration of everyone's passion in life. Most were expressive in their thoughts about the daily grind. I reckon that it's typical of all intimate gatherings. Everyone's got a voice. At Terraz, one can opine and let the hours roll. With a spectacular view of the building's sky garden and the scenic cityscape, an opinion is simply a contention to ponder on. To each his own.
