Most of my budget hotel stays have inclusive breakfast in the room rate. My participation at the recently-concluded Metro Angeles Food Tour 2014 was no exception. Widus Hotel & Casino, our hotel base, looked and felt every inch a classy leisure destination that I can consider it a good value for money.

An excerpt of the Metro Angeles Food Tour 2014
Having stayed in a lot of budget hotels in mainland Luzon, I've experienced the melancholic set breakfast and sometimes not having breakfast at the establishment at all. It's always a real hassle to have to walk out of the hotel or resort grounds in my morning attire (for lack of a better term for whatever I look like in the morning) and search for a good restaurant to dine in for breakfast. It seems that whenever that happens, my cuppa or cup of coffee session is unnecessarily delayed, making me upset and feeling horrible.

International Cuisine For Breakfast

I was thankful for Widus Hotel & Casino's in-house restaurant Salt Resto which does not only match the pleasurable stay at the hotel's room and other amenities, but it also proved to be a must-dining destination in Pampanga for its roster of international cuisines. Conveniently located next to the hotel lobby, it is the hotel's signature F & B outlet. It was aptly named for the highly essential substance used for seasoning food.

Cuisine Rebuilding

I learned that the featured cuisines were restructured in 2013 with help from a Singapore-based executive chef. Since the Clarkfield zone is an area where a lot of expats and foreign tourists can be seen, the restaurant is at an essential spot to serve global flavors.

My Morning Plate

For breakfast, I was glad to find a copious variety of bread products. The waiting staff were so attentive that all I needed to do was to take my seat and wait for my hot cup of coffee to come. Soon, I was cruising the buffet area for a little bit of everything from salads to small servings of noodles and the usual Filipino viands. My plate was a set of delicious morsels. There was also a frosty machine for kids to enjoy.

In the afternoon, guests can order a la carte. One just has to choose from a menu of international dishes like Asian, Korean, Hong Kong dimsum, Japanese, Italian, Western and Filipino.
