La Fiesta Pizza

I N   T H E   C I T Y

Any night out in Metro Manila is definitely a challenge to pull through. With the abundance of restaurants and leisure establishments to choose from, browsing through an option list alone takes tremendous effort.

What are you craving for? What area is not congested with people? Is the food joint near the cinema? It's a conscious struggle to even consider a shortlist!

It's a good thing that the reliable Greenbelt 3 (this is next to the Greenbelt church) recently welcomed Papa John's. The pizza place is smack dab in the middle of the gastronomic action of the Makati City business center. It's a walking distance to the Greenbelt Cinema and Red Box Videoke. And right exactly below it is Starbucks!

Super Papa's Pizza
My mid-week food hunt suddenly became easy. Invited by Papa John's to sample a few of its flavorful treats, I darted to Makati City one uneventful weekday. A friendly dinner with familiar restaurant aficionados was in the works when I arrived.

Instantly remarkable was the Super Papa's pizza which was endearing because of its combo of tasty pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, freshly sliced mushroom, onions, green peppers and black olives. It was obviously a signature flavor. There was a taste twist, though. Once I finished with my slice of Super Papa's, I saved the outer crust and dunked pieces of it in the garlic dip. Easily, the effort was a separate state of deliciousness.

I was not able to taste this one pizza flavor called La Fiesta because it was a surprise hit with the other food tasters that night. I had to see the last slice take flight landing on another blogger's plate. Anyway, quoting Papa John's official website, La Fiesta is tender pulled pork pieces marinated in selected spices, bacon bits, onions, green peppers and a measure of tabasco sauce with a signature pizza sauce.

For fearless pasta lovers, I recommend Papa John's Diablo Burst. It's spaghetti that's giving Bicol Express a bad rep with its devilish spicy kick. I sampled this one upon being cajoled by a blogger next to me. He said it was spicy, but I did not perceive the review to be hardcore. Next thing I knew, the bursting spiciness hit my palate! I can definitely see my adventurous foodie friends ordering this one in their own time.

I also got to taste the restaurant's 3-Cheese Pasta which is a serving of Penne with the combination of Parmesan, cheddar, and mozzarella cheeses. I recommend this to kids who can easily fall in love with anything with cheese.

Lastly, what I enjoyed the most in the table full of Papa John's treats was the serving of freshly baked onion rings. It's absolutely not oily and can be one's best takeout to the cinema.

I'll surely make a return visit to Papa John's soon!
