Bagnet served in Pagudpud

I promised myself never to eat at a fastfood chain when I'm on travel blog duty. This means that if I was at a distant province for lunch, I'd have to eat what the locals eat.

Case in point: the meals I had in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur when I visited the provinces last week.

I only had the following when I was there in order of deliciousness:

1) Ilocos Express - prepared the same way as Bicol Express but using Bagnet instead of your usual pork; I had this at Playa Tropical, Currimao in Ilocos Norte.

2) Bagnet - the version of this deep-fried pork that's famous in the northern Philippines was served to me in thick chunks and not the pulutan type only; I had this at the town of Pancian in Pagugpud, Ilocos Norte.

3) Vigan Longganisa - when in Vigan, one needs to have this; I had this at an affordable hotel in Ilocos Sur.

I admit to having sneaked inside Max's, Chowking, and Greenwich during my Ilocos vacation. I'm just human.
