General's Chicken at Recipe: Glazed Chicken with Eggplant
Long before Bonchon, there was General's Chicken of Recipe restaurant. It has always been my mall comfort food. It's in between home-made chicken and the beloved Jollibee Chickenjoy.

What's more, this chicken specialty has the charm that no fast food chicken has. It's not enough that it's crispy. My favorite General's Chicken is smothered with a sweet glaze that's visible even before tearing into it. And I don't have to really tear into it like a caveman because I prefer taking small bites off of every piece which I follow up with a bite of the soft-tasting eggplant that comes with the serving. The bitter taste of the latter complements the saltiness of the chicken flavor.

It's not for everyone but for those who sometimes get trapped between demanding work and home-cooked meal dilemmas, this General's chicken is comforting.

Pricing: General's Chicken by Recipe used to be available for solo servings and for less than P200. That was 2 years ago. This year an order set me back for P220 but the restaurant compensated the price increase with a serving that's good for 2 people.

Dining Truth: I've tested sharing this with another person and it just did not work for me. I always had to have it all. Sharing it was like sharing snacks with 5 people so I always end up ordering for one and having the rest for to-go.

Why It's A Winner In My Book
Every bite of this General's Chicken is crispy, soft, and moist which is something other chicken recipes are not altogether. Most of all, it lets me appreciate one cup of rice for what it is -- strictly one cup.
